    First-Time Client Guide

New to sugaring? We've got you covered. Here's everything you need to know to prepare for your first session and get the smoothest results possible.

The Ancient Art of Smooth Skin

    What is Sugaring?

Sugaring is an ancient hair removal technique dating back over 4,000 years to Egypt. Unlike waxing, sugaring uses only three natural ingredients: sugar, water, and lemon. The paste is applied at body temperature (no burns!) and removes hair in the direction of growth, making it gentler on your skin and reducing breakage.

    Before Your Appointment

A little preparation goes a long way. Follow these steps for the best experience.

    10-14 days before

    Let Your Hair Grow

Stop shaving or other hair removal about 2 weeks before your appointment. Hair should be about 1/8 to 1/4 inch long—roughly the length of a grain of rice.

💡 Tip: If it's been longer than 3 weeks since you last shaved, that's perfectly fine! We can trim if needed.

    24-48 hours before

    Exfoliate Gently

Use a gentle scrub or exfoliating mitt on the treatment area to remove dead skin cells. This helps the sugar paste grip the hair better.

💡 Tip: Don't exfoliate the day of your appointment—your skin should be calm, not freshly scrubbed.

    Day of appointment

    Skip the Caffeine & Alcohol

Both caffeine and alcohol can make your skin more sensitive. If possible, avoid them for a few hours before your appointment.

💡 Tip: Staying hydrated with water is great though!

    24 hours before

    Avoid Heat & Sun

Skip hot baths, saunas, tanning beds, and prolonged sun exposure. You want your skin in its normal, healthy state.

💡 Tip: If you have a sunburn, please reschedule—sugaring sunburned skin isn't safe.

    Day of appointment

    Wear Comfortable Clothing

Choose loose, breathable fabrics—especially for the area being treated. Cotton underwear is ideal for bikini or Brazilian appointments.

💡 Tip: Tight clothing can cause friction on freshly sugared skin.

    Day of appointment

    Arrive Clean & Product-Free

Shower and make sure the treatment area is clean. Don't apply lotions, oils, deodorant, or any products to the area.

💡 Tip: We'll prep your skin when you arrive, but starting clean helps us work more effectively.

    During Your Session

Here's what to expect when you arrive. We'll take care of everything!

    1

    3

    The Sugaring

Using only sugar, water, and lemon, we'll apply the paste at body temperature and remove hair in the direction of growth. Most clients say it's gentler than they expected!

    4

    Soothing Finish

We'll apply a calming, natural serum to soothe your skin. We'll also give you personalized aftercare tips based on your skin type.

    Does it hurt?

Most first-time clients are pleasantly surprised! Sugaring is generally less painful than waxing because the paste only adheres to hair and dead skin cells—not live skin. You'll feel a quick snapping sensation, but it's very manageable. Each session gets easier as hair grows back finer.

    Common Concerns

    Redness or bumps after?

Totally normal! Mild redness and small bumps usually fade within a few hours to 24 hours. Apply aloe vera or a soothing lotion if needed. If irritation persists beyond 48 hours, give us a call.

    Worried about ingrown hairs?

Exfoliate 2-3 times per week starting 48 hours after your session. This is the #1 way to prevent ingrown hairs. Keep the area moisturized and avoid tight clothing.
